ALEF
Solo perfomance by Ukrainian actress about voyage, emigration, (re)defining home, finding a new self in a new world.
Kapitolina Kolobova's original texts come together as a mosaic in which images drift across the surface, the sea unfolds, and distant shores emerge. The space stretches between Kharkiv, Prague, San Francisco, Istanbul, and a small, inconspicuous point that could be anywhere. Time moves in cycles between the present day and ancient times.
Gradually, a hidden story takes shape — one of personal spirituality, of understanding oneself and the world, and of the courage to persevere. It speaks of the divine within every human being, of the boundary between love and cruelty, madness and normality. Fleeting glimpses of answers appear to questions that cannot be expressed in tha language of everyday life.
The perfomance invites audiences to embrace every layer of reality, including its darkest ones, and to seek their own ways of living through it all without losing their integrity or surrendering to superficiality.
